wondering which bike is best, looking at trek fx series?
Hi, i recently started cycling because i realized it's a fun and easy way to exercise, and I've lost twenty pounds in a short period of time riding my mountain bike every day. I'd like to upgrade to a bike that is a little better quality than the bike i have right now. The Trek FX series seems very appealing because i mostly ride in the city, but don't want a road bike. My biggest question is what size, and maybe what other brand hybrid would support my 5'9 250 pound frame the best. I want something sturdy and still quick. Thanks a lot

Go here to find your size, of coarse the bike shop will help you.

Great bike! More importantly is the stand over height to the top tube of the bicycle bar. For road riding I personally like a larger frame, so I’m less than an inch over the top tube. When you go to a shop they can assist in proper sizes.
You may also want to look at Forge Bicycles, they make a model called the M Steet. This is an excellent bicycle for the price. The design is primarily used for commuting and fitness.

I own a few Forge Bicycles and like the quality for price.

Do some serious price shopping before you buy a Trek FX bike; I have one I bought two years ago for $480 and the exact same bike (same parts, everything) is now going for $639. Take a look at the Specialized Cirrus line, and the Giant FCR line before making a final decision.
As for size, your weight really isn’t an issue. I’m 5’6″ and have a 17. 5″ bike that’s almost too big for me as far as stand-over clearance, but I do fine on it. At your height, this size or one up should be fine.
